Meet Fiona Turner, Specialist Orthodontist
Fiona has travelled a long road since primary school in Dunedin. She became a Specialist Orthodontist in 1999 and has spent nearly 20 years working in West Auckland where she has helped create thousands of smiles and established a friendly state of the art practice for West Auckland to be proud of.
She actively participates in continuing professional development which allows her to stay current on the latest technology and treatments, including for chalky teeth.
Fiona is a member of the New Zealand Dental Association, New Zealand Association of Orthodontists, World Federation of Orthodontists, The D3 Group for Developmental Dental Defects, and a founding supporter of the Wish for a Smile Trust – the charitable arm of the NZAO.
Fiona is the mother of Izzie and Rory and is married to Arend. She loves the outdoors especially swimming, tramping and bike packing. Reading, the arts, gardening and caring for the hens are other spare time activities. Fiona is an Orthodontist in Auckland.
Meet Danielle Hodgkinson, Specialist Orthodontist
Danielle’s love of West Auckland began volunteering as a United North Piha surf lifeguard as a high school student. A few decades later she has moved back to the beautiful Waitakere Ranges and is excited to join the team at Tōtara Orthodontists.
Danielle graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in 2013. She then worked at Auckland, Greenlane, and Middlemore Hospitals, as well as in both private and community-based clinics. Her love of orthodontics took her back to Dunedin for a further three years of clinical and research-based study to graduate as a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics in 2020.
She enjoys all aspects of clinical orthodontics, especially the positive impact a beautiful smile can have on both children and adults’ lives. She is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, the New Zealand Association of Orthodontists, the New Zealand Dental Association and is an orthodontist for the Wish for a Smile Trust.
In her spare time, Danielle enjoys a good walk along our beautiful coastlines, whipping up delicious cooking and baking, and most of all spending time with her husband Joel, two-year-old Reece, and black cat Margot. Danielle is an Orthodontist in Auckland.
Silvana enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and walking outdoors.
Claudia is very passionate about Orthodontics, and she loves to make a change in peoples’ lives by building beautiful smiles, and she takes great pride in helping our patients to achieve it.
Born and raised in Bogota-Colombia, Claudia moved to New Zealand in 2009 with her kiwi husband.
When Claudia is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and her two kids, going for bike rides, traveling, and dancing.
Ukrainian born, and raised in the Netherlands, Masha enjoyed her Dutch living style with her husband and her two boys. In 2016 they decide to move to New Zealand and they love being part of the West community
In her spare time, Masha enjoys fishing, tramping, and skiing.
She is a fully qualified and registered Orthodontic Auxiliary and has been working with Dr. Fiona since 2017.
Nicole enjoys working with patients of all ages and finds the results very rewarding to watch.
She also has a passion for the digital aspects of Orthodontics and is the SureSmile technology administrator, and helps out with Dental Monitoring.
She loves Orthodontics and she believes that nothing beats the thrills of witnessing the progress of every patient gaining confidence through their perfect smile.
Jeanne moved from the tropical and bustling city of Singapore to the colder and greener New Zealand in 2022, with her husband. She enjoys traveling, and photography is her passion.
She loves working in Orthodontics, enjoying being a part of the journey our patients experience with us, and getting to see their smiles.
Leah is a westie born and bred with a few years living in Nelson when she was younger. She and her husband live in West Auckland with their three children.
When Leah isn’t working, she’s at home spending time with her family, cat, and 2 parrots either listening to vinyl or reading a book.
After moving to New Zealand in 2018 she has worked as a dental assistant for practices in North Shore and South Auckland.
She has a very calm and friendly personality, loves interacting with patients, and strives to provide dental care in the most comfortable way possible.
She takes care of all aspects of the administration as well as being one of our Treatment Coordinators. Her vast experience, cheerfulness and dedication to all aspects of Totara Ortho is appreciated by all.
Seeing the kids leave with their beautiful smiles once they have completed their treatment is a highlight for Becky
Becky loves spending time with her husband and two daughters, she also finds time for walking, reading, traveling and socialising with friends .
Hansa was born and raised in Matamata where her parents owned and ran a Fruit Shop, and then she raised her four beautiful children in Palmerston North.
In her spare time, Hansa enjoys gardening and building projects around her home in Auckland. She loves watching movies as a night-time relaxation mode, cooking, and entertaining with friends and family.
